| NUST students on graduation day |
Graduating is every university or collage going student s dream. Its a sign that one has completed something and that there have made it in life despite the challenges they faced during the period. Its a sign that one can go out there in the industry and make a difference.IT is a moment one is eager to show off their skills in the market and everyone will be just excited.look at this beautiful picture extracted from the http://www.proudlyafrican.info/Proudly-African/Proudly-African-Territories/Zimbabwe/Travel-Lifestyle/Training-Education/National-University-of-Science-and-Technology.aspx website. These graduates are happy looking forward to a happy future.
However that is not the feeling these days graduates feel when they finish their courses.Everyone is scared if l may use that term on what will become of them after school because there are no jobs in Zimbabwe to be precise.I think that is why most students are seen selling some staff at school as there will be preparing for vendor-ship after school.Don't you think so TOO?This is all because the country is failing to provide jobs for these young people.
Bulawayo City council is also failing to provide for its youths employment and we see them in street either selling something, idle walking or stealing from someone in order to earn a living. This is a bit degrading to the education sector because whether learned or not people are just the same these days. Those who did not go to school now even appear better than the educated.
How then do you encourage our up coming generation to continue learning when things are like this? What has become our Zimbabwe guys.OK the country we can understand,What about our city of Bulawayo.IS it not the council s responsibility to create employment for its citizen, why are they living industries shutting down and not helping them so that people can find jobs.
